Controlling PvP on your HumanitZ server is one of the most impactful decisions you can make as a server administrator. Whether you want high-stakes combat or a cooperative survival experience, toggling PvP takes just a few steps inside your server’s control panel.
PvP (Player vs. Player) determines whether players can damage, kill, and compete against one another on your server. By default, HumanitZ servers have PvP enabled, creating a tense, unpredictable dynamic where no player can be fully trusted. Disabling it shifts the experience toward teamwork and cooperative survival against zombies.
Disabling PvP doesn’t just prevent players from harming each other — it also affects the ability to interact with other players’ items, such as vehicles and containers. This makes a PvE environment significantly different in terms of resource access and base-building strategy.
Step 1 — Log in to your server’s control panel and stop your server before making any changes. Editing settings while the server is live can cause configuration errors or prevent changes from being saved correctly.
Step 2 — Navigate to Files > Config Files (or the Config tab, depending on your hosting panel) and click on HumanitZ Server Settings. This is where all core gameplay parameters are managed, including PvP, loot settings, zombie density, and more.
Step 3 — Locate the PvP field within the settings file. Set the value to 1 (or “true”) to enable Player vs. Player combat, or 0 (or “false”) to disable it and create a PvE-only environment. Save your changes once done.
Step 4 — Restart your server. The new PvP setting will take effect immediately upon launch. All connected players will now be subject to the updated rules, so be sure to communicate any changes to your community in advance.
Fine-tuning PvP is just the start. Your HumanitZ server config also lets you adjust zombie difficulty, loot rarity, weapon durability, air drops, permadeath, and more — giving you full control over the kind of survival experience your players enjoy. Explore all settings to craft the perfect server for your community.
